Massage Therapy Educational Requirements

The Nevada State Board of Massage Therapy has increased the hour requirements from 500 hours of school to 550 hours. The following provides specific breakdown of those hour requirements:
A Board recognized program of massage therapy shall require its pupils to complete:
A minimum of 550 hours of instruction in the following courses before receiving a certificate:
- One hundred twenty-five (125) hours of instruction in the body’s systems, including, without limitation, anatomy, physiology and kinesiology;
- Two hundred twenty (220) hours of instruction which is taken in a classroom setting with hands-on instruction in assessment, theory and application instruction, which must include not less than 80 hours in clinical instruction;
- Forty (40) hours of instruction in pathology;
- Twenty (20) hours of instruction in business;
- Twenty (20) hours of instruction in ethics; and
- One hundred twenty-five hours (125) of instruction in other courses of massage therapy in a classroom setting with hands-on instruction.
